If you’re looking to improve your health this year, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital is an invaluable resource tucked right in our city. They offer a variety of free or nominal-cost programs throughout the year on everything from women’s health to nutrition to smoking cessation and cancer wellness.

There is a class for everyone and every interest at every stage of life. Most are convenient lunch hour programs or evening sessions. Are you a woman facing the change of life? Try “Changing Health Needs for Women at Mid-Life and Beyond.” Want to know how to eat better? Check out “Choosing the Right Foods for You.” Feeling stressed? Stop by “Stress and Health: How to Balance the Two.”

If you or someone you know is trying to stop smoking, the hospital offers 7-week lunch or evening program, “Freedom from Smoking,” as well as a 4-week program, “Integrative Medicine Smoking Cessation (Hypnosis and One-on-One Counseling).” They also delve into lung health in “Breathe Easier Knowing the Facts About Lung Disease.”

Their website offers online assessments to help you gauge your awareness and risk for heart disease, depression, stroke, and diabetes. Visit www.eehealth.org.
