Change is afoot in and around Elmhurst. We are finally seeing slightly cooler weather, back to school sales have been in local Elmhurst stores for a few weeks & students begin to head back to District 205 schools under the guidance of a new Superintendent.

It’s this time of the year where the Gracik Makinney Real Estate Group take stock of the summer that is slowly slipping away and make plans to squeeze the very last ounces of fun out of the remaining Summer we have. We know that, as school gets back into session, families will re-focus their efforts on buying or selling their home no matter where they live in DuPage County. Often Summer is the perfect excuse to put your home plans on hold to enjoy the season…and we agree. While our phones are beginning to ring with people looking to get back into the housing market, we also understand the need to celebrate the rest of summer. Here are some ideas:

  • Cooler weather seems to invite people to the lovely streets of Elmhurst. Parents, after you get home from work, why not take your kids on a leisurely stroll through our quaint downtown. A stroll is one way to enjoy the cooler weather and catch up with your kids and their plans for the school year ahead.
  • Similar to a stroll around Elmhurst is taking a bike ride on the wandering Prairie Path and/or Great Western Trail that meanders through Elmhurst. Take stock of nature for in just a few short months the leaves will be changing and falling and you do not want to hear yourself asking “where did Summer go?”
  • Take a few hours out of your day and head over to the Elmhurst Art Museum. The museum has events planned each week as well as dazzling displays such as the Michael Rea: Soirée which showcases various works of art such as fallen spaceships and futuristic weaponry all in unfinished wood.
  • Don’t forget the Farmer’s Markets in Elmhurst and around DuPage county as well as the last remaining festivals that we have going on.
  • Elmhurst is just a stone’s throw from the city and we cannot begin to cover the events that you can attend in Chicago just by hopping on the Elmhurst Metra. But, if you want a quick jaunt to the city for the beaches, museums, shops, restaurants, Elmhurst is close enough to dabble in what the big city has to offer.

Enjoy the remaining days of Summer and be sure to say hello when you pass by the Gracik Makinney offices when you take that stroll we mentioned.
