Have you been wondering about the activity going on at the typically tranquil Timothy Christian Schools campus in south Elmhurst?

Construction is underway for a new junior high and athletic arena, both scheduled to open in Fall 2017.

Dubbed Project Impact, the $16 million initiative will include a 60,000-square-foot building for seventh and eighth grade classrooms, a new athletic facility for the high school, and improved parking lots and traffic flow.

The new junior high will feature enhanced technology throughout and more opportunities for collaboration. The students will now also have their own space for lunch and chapel. The current junior high facility is one of the oldest parts of the grade school. By moving the junior high, the elementary school will gain the space previously allotted for seventh and eighth graders.

The new high school sports arena will seat nearly double the amount it currently holds and will have a new lobby and concessions area. The facility will include multiple locker rooms, a full training room, and additional storage.

Both buildings will be built on the east side of the campus on what is the current school bus parking area and maintenance garage.

Timothy Christian enrolls approximately 1,100 students in grades pre-kindergarten through high school.

The plan calls for all financing of the project to be raised via fundraising. The school estimates that 80 percent of the money has already been pledged.

Timothy Christian Schools is one of many excellent private schools in Elmhurst and demonstrates our community’s continuing commitment to excellence in education.
