Elmhurst Public Library consistently tops the list of best reasons to live in Elmhurst. For the past year, it has been undergoing a large overhaul of the second floor, including a new teen center, expanded study rooms, a new computer lab, and a fireplace and seating area. And now the new Creative Studio Lab has opened, offering cardholders a bevy of high-end technological equipment.

Want to make a music recording or shoot a photo session? The CSL has three sound proof and green screen rooms, all equipped with iMacs, Adobe Creative Cloud, iMovie and Garage Band/Logic Pro software. If that isn’t what you need, other equipment is available for check out to be used outside of the library.

There are even more perks. If you’ve always wanted to digitize your outdated technology, now is the time. The CSL has equipment to digitize VHS, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, slides, and negatives. You can create a blog, make a PowerPoint presentation, a resume, and learn some Photoshop techniques.

Want to print a large poster or banner? Print something in 3-D? The library can help with that too!

And if all this technology has you yearning for something more traditional, there are also typewriters, fax machines, and pay phones available.

The Creative Studio Lab and the expanded technology resources are part of the library’s strategic plan for 2016-2021, which focuses on providing the support, resources and environment for patrons to engage with technology. In addition to the hardware and software available, staff is available to answer questions and there are a variety of tutorials available on the library’s website: elmhurstpubliclibrary.org.
