Last week, the second edition of the Prairie State Cycling Series at Elmhurst proved to be a huge success, drawing 400 entries of local rookies and international professionals alike.  The popularity of the race could be bikesign-jpg-20131022.jpglargely attributed to one of Elmhurst’s more recent and distinguished recognitions...

Did you know Elmhurst is one of only EIGHT communities in Illinois to be an officially designated bike-friendly community?

Three hundred communities nationwide can say that, and Elmhurst is proud to be one of them.
Being a bike-friendly city is great for both the health of community members as well as the environment.  For many home-seekers, bike-ability is a huge draw when considering a move to a new town.  The Elmhurst Bike Task Force worked hard to put together the necessary plans in order to achieve this designation, as well as placing EPD Bike Photo.jpga higher priority on accommodating the ‘casual cyclist.’ The task force wanted to focus on making it easy for anyone to just hop on a bike and run to the store, rather than focus on a niche of die-hard cyclists. Beyond giving Elmhurst an easy and fun way to commute around town, this plan and execution demonstrated commitment to achieve a goal as a community.

Did the recent race get your mind in gear to take up casual cycling? If you’re ready to get back on the bike and see what all the bike friendly fuss is about, but don’t want to over-commit (or over-spend), check out one of the used biked stores nearby in Chicago for great deals, as recently featured in TimeOutChicago Magazine.  Get yourself comfortable with the different options and styles and find what is right for you, without breaking the bank!  This is the perfect time of year to get outside and enjoy the trails.

We never run out of Elmhurst Pride.  If you’re looking to relocate to Elmhurst, we are happy to help welcome anyone to the community and help you find your new home. Please give us a call at 630-441-5570 or visit us on the web at for more information!
